SHYC will host another PHRF Twilight Race this Tuesday, July 27.
On July 20, Harrier, sailed by the Pitt family, was victorius over White Knuckles, sailed by Frank Brooker, and Golden Harvest, helmed by Dave Dickerson.
The racers faced challenging conditions in the flukey air but perservered through frequent dead spots and an adverse tide.
More wind is expected for the July 27 race.
Thunderstorms forced cancellation of the July 13 PHRF Twilight Race.
For the upcoming race, competitors should rendevouz near Red Nun #8 off of Columbia Point.
Race circulars will be available from Steve Kavanagh at 6 p.m. at SHYC or at the Committee Boat.
PHRF certificates are not required. Ratings will be assigned by the Regatta Committee. Race is open to all non-Thunderbird boats.

Mysterious Ways Wins Hosea White Race |

 Steve Kavanagh's "Mysterious Ways" cruised to victory in the annual SHYC Hosea White PHRF Race held Sunday, June 27.
Seven boats competed in the challenging 8.8 mile race sailed in varying winds and choppy seas. The race started in Dorchester Bay at Red Nun # 8 and included an upwind leg to Red Nun #2; downwind leg to Red Nun #4; upwind to Yellow Nun "A" at Deer Island; finishing with a long downwind leg to the SHYC mooring area.
Mark Fitzgerald's "Tonga" forged ahead at the start and led at every mark of the course. "Tonga" apparently sailed into a dead spot near Thompson's Island on the final leg which allowed the rest of the pack to catch up.
"Mysterious Ways" glided past "Tonga" and Brian Pitt's "Harrier" in the final stretch to get the gun. "Tonga" crossed the finish line second but dropped to fourth place on corrected time.
"Harrier" held off Sean & Diane Kane's hard-charging "Chikanery" to place third. "Chikanery" jumped up to second place on corrected time.
Don Kavanagh's "Thunderation" placed fifth despite interference from a local marine parade which intersected part of the race course.
Frank Brooker's "White Knuckles" was next with "rookie" Jim McDonough, sailing in his first club race, rounding out the field in "Escape."
